Do you ever want to give your body a jump-start into feeling and looking better? It happens to me especially when I know that I am going to be spending an extended amount of time in my bathing suit. The 4th of July celebration in the United States is just around the corner and I am headed for my annual retreat to Rehoboth Beach, DE to spend a week with my best friends and their partners’. About one month away I thought that it was the perfect time to do a little cleanse to kick-start my engine.
This past January I did a 5-week cleanse with my Sister and I was able to eliminate caffeine, dairy and as a result, all of my nasal steroids and antihistamines. Sleeping better, feeling leaner and I have an overall better level of energy. We did the 28 Day Mind + Body Challenge published by Martha Stewart’s Whole LIving magazine and website. While we both found it a bit overwhelming to cut and cook so many vegetables for such a long time we were both pleased with the results and the learnings we gleaned from the disciplined approach.
For the Summer Speedo Cleanse I am using the Three-Day Action Plan Reboot that was recently published by Whole Living. I wanted to do this about a month ago but my travels to Europe (more posts to come) and other commitments made it impossible to be on a cleanse until now. The cleanse is a three-day detox program that allows your system to take a break from processing tough foods and helps remove toxins that are in your system.
I bought all of the ingredients today at my local Whole Foods and spent about three hours prepping and cooking with Jose. It is so great to go to the grocery store and buy all of your items within just the produce section. It just feels healthy. With the prep out-of-the-way it is nice to know that I don’t have to think about what to eat for the next three days. Everything is prepped and ready to be assembled or cooked. Simple.
I will keep you posted over the next three days via my Twitter feed: @thestyledancer and will also post pictures and recaps here on my blog.
Do you have experience with a detox? Let me know which one and how it worked for you.
